About the Speaker:
Health, Safety and Personal Safety Trainer Safety Solutions Training Ltd
Vince Donovan has been a director at Safety Solutions Training Ltd for the past fourteen years. The company specialises in the delivery of Health & Safety and Personal Safety related training programmes for organisations in the private, public and the third sector. With over a hundred and eighty organisations receiving training services, we have grown to become one of the leading providers specialising in Personal Safety training across Wales. Vince retired from the South Wales Police in September 2014, having served the majority of his thirty years’ service in Cardiff. With a wide range of experiences during his career; with roles that included the CID, Firearms, Community Safety, Crime Prevention, Emergency Planning and Hate Crime, Vince spent the last six years of his service within the specialist field of Counter Terrorism as a Prevent Engagement officer. Vince gained considerable experience engaging with a large number of individuals considered vulnerable to radicalisation and violent extremism that were referred to ‘Channel’ (the UK Governments multi-agency support program). Vince also worked closely with the families of those involved in terrorist campaigns and others whose sons had travelled to join terrorist groups in Kenya (Al-Shabaab) and Syria (ISIS). Such hands-on engagement, provided insights to the various vulnerability factors and influences that attracted individuals to the various forms of radicalisation and violent extremism. While a Prevent Engagement Officer, Vince worked closely with Further and Higher educational establishments across the South Wales area, in addition to engaging with Head Teachers and Safeguarding leads of many of the Primary and Secondary schools in Cardiff.
